Atlanta-based Cosmetic Surgeon Appointed to Lead Local Humanitarian Efforts Serving the Homeless

03.24.2011– Changing Southwest Development Corporation just named Dr. Nathaniel Johnson, III as co-chairman to lead its initiative to serve Atlanta’s homeless through its grassroots efforts with Heart to Heal, an organization that feeds, clothes and employs the homeless population in the metro-Atlanta area.

Dr. Johnson graduated at the top percentile of his class from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he became the president of the Student National Medical Association. Dr. Johnson relocated to Atlanta and is one of the top Cosmetic and Laparoscopic surgeons in the area. He completed a Categorical Internship at Emory University and then went on to the department of Gynecological Obstetrics. While at Emory University, Dr. Johnson worked with the late Mayor Maynard Jackson and former Mayor Shirley Franklin to establish the Welcome House Home for the Homeless. He was also on the board of Antioch Urban Ministries and started Matthew’s Place, a 28-bed housing facility for those living with AIDS; Recovery Through Christ, an addiction recovery program which has assisted over 8000 men and women from drugs to date; a school, church and clinic in Haiti which operates all year long since 1996. Dr. Johnson has also served as the Medical Director of the General missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia for 10 years which has had over 800 churches on the roster.

“Life hasn’t been easy for me,” shares Johnson, “At the age of nine I lost my parents that in a highly publicized murder-suicide. I know what it feels like to be invisible. Leading efforts to serve our homeless population is my way of saying, ‘I understand’; it’s a great honor and privilege to be part of such a community effort.”

Dr. Nathaniel Johnson III is a world-renowned leader in laparoscopic cosmetic surgery. He is trained in all facets of liposuction and fat transfer and specializes in lipoplasty under local anesthesia, which is the safest and most appropriate liposuction available.

An accomplished cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Johnson is certified in the area of liposuction by the Pelosi Medical Center, a leading educational facility recognized by the American Association of Cosmetic Surgeons (AACS).
