EMA, Sheriff: Not a bulge in levee, a "cosmetic slide"

SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) -

CORRECTION: EARLIER WE LISTED THAT THERE WAS A BULGE ON THE SCOTT CITY SIDE OF THE DIVERSION CHANNEL LEVEE. IT IS CALLED A "COSMETIC SLIDE" AND NOT A BULGE ACCORDING TO?THE LITTLE RIVER DRAINAGE DISTRICT,?THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY IN SCOTT COUNTY?AND SHERIFF'S OFFICE OFFICIALS.

According to Little River Drainage District Engineer Dustin Boatright and?Amber Scudder with Scott County EMA?there is a "cosmetic slide" in a part of the diversion channel levee on the Scott City side.

This happens when there is too much rain on the top soil, according to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.

Scudder says that Emergency Management, the Sheriff's Office and the Army Corps of Engineers all say there is nothing to worry about with the "cosmetic slide."

They met with the Little River Drainage District around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Again,?they say the slide?has nothing to do with the sturdyness of the levee.
