Rhode Island Plastic Surgeon on Innovative Approach to Facial Rejuvenation

Providence, RI (PRWEB) May 31, 2011

The latest study from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) not only contains statistics concerning the number of procedures performed in the U. S. in 2010, but also highlights the growing approval of cosmetic procedures as more than half of all Americans now approve of cosmetic enhancement. After a year in which more than 9.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed, Rhode Island plastic surgeon Dr. Patrick Sullivan says the growing interest in aesthetic enhancement, especially procedures such as the facelift and liposuction, inspires him to continually pursue the latest techniques designed specifically to increase patient safety and overall effectiveness.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon in Rhode Island, Dr. Sullivan says education and innovation both play an important role in the growing acceptance of cosmetic enhancement. He adds that developing techniques the public has expressed interest in is also essential to the success of the industry. At the 2011 ASAPS meeting, Dr. Sullivan delivered a presentation entitled, “Rejuvenation of the Aging Jawline: A Comprehensive Approach,” which focuses on the combination of procedures needed to provide both men and women with an artistically appropriate, naturally-enhanced result.

Dr. Sullivan also led several courses at the ASAPS meeting. The first course focused on lower face and neck rejuvenation, which is currently a topic of interest in the plastic surgery community, according to Dr. Sullivan. The second course was designed specifically for plastic surgeons interested in the latest techniques available for lower eyelid and forehead rejuvenation. To complete his ASAPS schedule, Dr. Sullivan presented his approach to using intravenous sedation in place of general anesthesia for facial surgeries, which reduces the overall invasiveness.

Joining some of the most-respected minds in plastic surgery at events such as the 2011 ASAPS meeting is important to the continued success of the plastic surgery community, according to Dr. Sullivan. As he prepares for the 2011 American Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting, he adds maintaining a close connection to patient needs and expectations will continue to influence acceptance of cosmetic enhancement, and inspire further innovation in a field with the potential to positively impact a patient’s quality of life.
