Drs. Elie and Jody Levine, a power couple in NYC’s cosmetic and plastic surgery scene, always agree if and when it’s time for patient's surgery

New York (PRWEB) April 7, 2011

Elie Levine, M.D., a highly regarded board-certified plastic surgeon and Jody Levine, M.D., a board certified cosmetic and surgical dermatologist (as well as a board certified pediatrician) don’t always see the same patients, but they do see eye to eye when it comes to the limitations of cosmetic dermatology.

“Some results are just better accomplished with surgery,” admits Dr. Jody Levine who treats patients’ beauty woes with lasers, lights and injectibles. Her husband, Dr. Elie Levine uses surgical and medical techniques to permanently improve, enhance or alter a patients’ appearance.

People make the mistake of relying on plastic surgery as a last resort, often filing it under something to get in your 60s when the other treatments have stopped working for them.

According to the Levines, the earlier the better. “Facelifts under-50 last twice as long as post-50s lifts,” explains Elie Levine. “Recovery is faster, trauma is minimal and the skin is more elastic.”

Excess weight, especially from childbearing, is another common problem that is best solved with surgery. “I see patients signing up for a series of long term treatments to fight the bulge, but the best solution sometimes is a tummy tuck,” said Dr. Jody Levine.

After awhile, surgery is the obvious better investment. “Especially if you don’t plan to have more children. Post-child bearing is the optimal time to get a tuck,” said Dr. Elie Levine.

The husband and wife team who own and operate Plastic Surgery & Dermatology of NYC, PLLC, a highly regarded Park Avenue medical spa and a single source cosmetic practice, are not always in favor of surgery.

Some patients want to avoid surgery at all costs. “Some want surgery and just aren’t candidates for it,” said Dr. Elie Levine. “Plus, my wife is often able to work her magic, keeping patients off my operating table for good.”

Lasers and injectibles have changed the scope of cosmetics in the last ten years. They’ve been instrumental in preventing the need for surgery for some, and delayed the inevitable for others who want to fight aging as long and as hard as they can. But, for some, surgery may indeed be the right decision.

A double consultation with both a plastic surgeon and cosmetic dermatologist expert team helps patients make an informed decision. Consultations can be made at Plastic Surgery and Dermatology of NYC (35A E. 84th Street) by visiting http://www.plasticsandderm.com or calling (212) 988-1800.
