New Cosmetic Procedure Slimming Down Cowtown

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – Whether it’s love handles, saddle bags, or cellulite, many people spend hours each week trying to get rid of problem spots on their bodies and lose weight.

Now a new cosmetic procedure offered in Fort Worth can take inches off your waistline, thighs, buttocks, or anywhere else without surgery.

“It takes ten minutes; it’s completely painless,” said Dr. Richard Ethridge of Ethridge Plastic Surgery in Fort Worth, “No needles, no invasive procedures.”

The procedure called i-Lipo uses four low-level laser pads to target the fat cells, stimulating the body’s natural processes to empty stored fat.

“The fat will actually leak out,” said Ethridge, “and your body will pick that up in your lymphatics and metabolize that.”

Patients lose on average of 1/2 inch to 2 inches per session.

Each session costs between $200-250, with eight sessions recommended for maximum results.

“I actually did it twice last week and I lost about an inch and a half the first time and a half inch the second time,” said Sarah Dowers, “and that was on my abdomen.”

Like many women, Dowers is worried about bathing suit season inching closer.

“Basically, we’re going on a trip in the summer,” she said, “so I just wanted to get back into shape and figured this would give me a boost.”

With vacation just months away, she needed a faster fix than exercise alone could offer, Dowers said.

While she continues to work out, the non-invasive, quick procedure helps her spot reduce in problem areas where stubborn fat just won’t go away.

“It’s either that or surgery, which costs way more money and you have scarring,” she said, “with this there’s no scarring, no pain, nothing.”

“The majority of people will use it on their abdomen and thighs,” Dr. Ethridge said.? i-Lipo was just recently approved by the FDA and made available in the United States.

Currently, Ethridge is the only cosmetic surgeon in Fort Worth with the new technology.
